Dragon Dojo History

The Dragon dojo Isshin Ryu karate club was started by Janice Enns and Sheila Reimer in 1997. Originally the club was located out of the Bradner Elementary school gymnasium, and moved to John MacLure Community school in October 1998. We have made John MacLure Community school our home and continue to train in the gym there every week during the school year.

Sensei Sheila holds the rank of Go Dan (5th degree black belt), Sensei Janice and Sensei Paul hold the rank of San Dan (3rd degree black belt).

Sensei Paul Hardy joined Sensei Janice and Sensei Sheila in 1999 as an instructor in the club.  Sensei Paul is currently on a hiatus due to his work schedule.

Sensei Sheila Reimer

“When my twin boys became interested in karate, I became interested too. I would take the boys to karate class and watch them. I thought, “I can do this!” I joined, and so did my two daughters, it was a family affair. Since then, karate has become a real passion for me. It’s taught me confidence, self-discipline and inspired me to become a karate instructor, a Sensei.”

“I started karate in late 1993, tested and was graded to the rank of Sho Dan in early spring 1997, Ni Dan in spring 1998, San Dan in spring of 2000, Yon Dan (4th degree black belt) in January 2004. Go Dan (5th degree) in March 2010. I continue to train 2 – 3 times every week.”
