Dojo
Rules
- Students must bow when entering or leaving the Dojo floor, or
when addressing a Black Belt.
- All Black Belts are to be addressed as "Sensei".
- There will be no "horseplay" on the Dojo floor.
- No eating or chewing gum on the Dojo floor.
- No jewellery is to be worn during karate classes.
- Finger nails and toe nails must be trimmed.
- Teeth guards and groin cups are mandatory for every class.
- Gi's are to be washed at least once per week.
- If late, wait at the entrance way for acknowledgment of the
Sensei before entering the Dojo.
- Show appropriate respect for the instructor in charge of the
class - no matter what their rank.
- Each student will show respect to all senior ranks.
- Each student will treat all other students the way that he/she
would like to be treated in return.
- Attendance at promotions is expected in order to support and
encourage your fellow students.
- No student shall attend classes while under the influence of
intoxicants.
- A student under medical care shall not go on the floor unless
authorized by a physician.
Isshin-Ryu Code of Conduct
Article 1.
The dojo is where the individual's physical and mental condition is
trained.
A. Believe that there is a God and human beings are his
children. (Believe in your own faith, but respect others)
B. Military art (budo) begins with a salute and ends with
the same.
C. Teachers and students bow to the protecting Goddess of
Isshin-ryu (Megami) and
be nice to each other.
Article 2.
Devote one's mental concentration and practice sincerely during the
course of training.
Article 3.
Smoking and drinking are prohibited while training.
Article 4.
Take good care of equipment used in training.
Article 5.
Students be respectful to their teachers and teachers be courteous to
the students and guide them properly.
Article 6.
Violators of the above codes will be dismissed from the dojo.
